The Barra School, Inc is a 501c3 nonprofit educational organization located on the Waits River in East Corinth, Vermont. Our mission is to support a deepening awareness of, connection with, and utilization of the powers of nature to foster individual and collective growth, development, healing, and resiliency. We provide year-round youth, adult, and family workshops utilizing trauma-informed, forest-based therapeutic practices, and specialize in immersive group experiences for at-risk youth and youth of other underserved and marginalized populations.

Certified Forest Therapy Guides lead youth through place-based healing modalities and use the practice of Council to create community. Through this process, Youth undergo deeply therapeutic experiences in a way which is personalized, culturally-responsive, trauma-informed, and community-minded. As well, youth are immersed in other healing and mindfulness strategies and practices which will benefit them well beyond their time here. At the end of our programs, youth leave with tools and strategies to support their transformational journeys as well as with resources and contacts for further mentorship and support.

As a FUNDRAISER to support our FREE Youth Programming, The Barra School offers

Year-Round Fee-Based Adult Programming, including Workshops and Retreats.

2025-26 OUTREACH and OUTINGS Programming:

OUTREACH programming is designed as drop-in sessions at The Hub Teen Center in Bradford VT to connect, build community, learn skills, and get mentorship and support.

OUTINGS programming is designed as field-trip based programming for youth to gain access to new experiences.

OUTREACH and OUTINGS programming is designed based on Youth Interest and Feedback.

Some of this year's OUTINGS programming will include:

trips to Boston to visit a museum and see a game or performance,

day hikes to various trails across VT and the White Mtns,

trips to local museums, events, concerts, locations, etc.

July 27-July 31 : Musical Theater and Film Production Camp (week 1 of 2) (all ages - for youth who want to create and perform a musical theater experience)

Aug 2-Aug 8 : Musical Theater and Film Production Camp (week 2 of 2) (all ages) with performances Aug 7+8

Aug 10-14 : Hike and Write (ages 9+)
